Hickory Golf News

The U.S. Hickory Open is headed to Wisconsin in 2016, where it has been announced the competition will be held Sept. 15-17 at the Lawsonia Links, in Green Lake.

The course was designed by the firm of William Langford and Theodore Moreau, who formed a golf course architecture partnership in 1918. The Lawsonia course opened in 1930. A web search on the Lawsonia Links will bring up a variety of sites with information on the course. One of the best is the story posted on golfclubatlas.com, which can be read here.

Lawsonia has, for years, been the home of the Kummel Cup, a hickory golf outing sponsored by the Wisconsin Hickory Golfers. That name was recently changed to the Wisconsin Hickory Open.

Lawsonia is a par 72, with 6,764 yards. It has a 72.8 rating and 130 slope.
