Hickory Golf News

Sept. 16, 2017

Five players turned out for the inaugural Mere Creek Hickory Club Open. It is an outing that new hickory player Forrest Dillon hopes will build as more learn about the hickory game.

“We had five players,” Dillon says. “Bob Young (Yarmouth, Mass.), Mike Pajak (Woolwich, Maine), and Mere Creek members Helen Boucher, Art Baur, and myself. Our pro sent us out as a fivesome with a complicated, rotating partner system, best-ball format. Under that format, Mike and I tied for the title, at 2-over 37. Our individual own-ball scores were as follows: Art-47, Helen -45, Bob-43, Mike–43, Forrest-37.”

A lot of hickory events have begun just as modestly, so we all wish you and the Maine hickory players the best, Forrest.
