The Metropolitan Hickory Society has scheduled its annual Fall Classic for Oct. 10 at Spring Lake Golf Club, Spring Lake Heights, N.J. Golf will commence at 1:30 p.m. followed by dinner and discussion.

Also, Spring Lake is happy to be hosting a U.S. Open local qualifier on May 7.

Spring Lake was formed in 1898 with nine holes believed to have been designed by Willie Norton, a professional from Prestwick, Scotland. That course was in use until 1911. At that time, a newer 18-hole course designed by George C. Thomas Jr. came into being. He would later design classic layouts in California such as Riviera Country Club, Bel Air CC, and the Los Angeles CC’s North Course.
