Hickory Golf News

July 8
Lake Sunapee CC
New London, N.H.

SoHG member David Webster has arranged for a hickory golf outing at Lake Sunapee CC, a private club in New London, N.H.. This original 1928 Donald Ross design was the summer home and club of “The Squire” – Gene Sarazen – in the later years of his life. It is a beautiful rolling hilly course always in pristine fast condition.

“I grew up playing LSCC and have known the professional, Craig for 30 years,” Webster says. “I’ve got six tee times set aside that I’m hoping to fill.”

Webster says he may be able to add more times if necessary.

Please send to Webster your preliminary “indication of interest” at dzweb@earthlink.net.  Include your name and hickory handicap if you have one. Pricing is still being negotiated, for both walkers and riders, but should be reasonable, Webster says.

“We are looking forward to what should be a good day of hickory golf at a very nice club,” he says.

Webster notes that this golf day is timed to coordinate with the scheduled White Mountain Hickory Open, planned for two days later, Saturday, July 10, at Mt Washington.

“This is a chance to play two of the finest Donald Ross gems in northern New England, back-to-back,” Webster says.
