   He’s good with more than hickories.

   Put any club in the hands of a fine golfer and it seems as though he, or she, will find a way to rattle the flagsticks. 2014 U.S. Hickory Open champ Jeremy Moe recently won his Arkansas PGA championship, besting 23 other players at the Chenal Country Club in Little Rock for the title. He turned in a 72-68 two-day score for 4 under. And that’s after being down by three shots after day 1.

  Moe is the head pro at the Hardscrabble Country Club in Little Rock. “My fellow professionals know how much I love to play hickory golf and none of them were surprised when I showed up for the Chapter Championship with my hickory Chicopee putter,” Moe said. “I was very pleased with the way I competed and proud that I didn’t let nerves get the best of me. I truly believe my experience in tournament play with my hickories has made me a better player under pressure.”

   Moe, who also won the title in 2012, was named the Arkansas PGA Teacher of the Year for 2014.

   Leave it to hickories to steel a man for golf with, well, steel clubs.
