Hickory Golf News

The Indiana Hickory Open was played Oct. 8-10 at Cambridge Golf Course in Evansville. Twenty-four players from six different states competed during the three-day event. The weather was unusually warm for October in southern Indiana, but rain on Thursday and Friday nights made the course very wet for the first two days.

The first day was a shamble format with scoring done on the Stableford scoring system.  The winners this year were the team of David Cotton, Gary Oldham and David Lipa with 80 points.

Champion of the 2021 Indiana Hickory Open is David Cotton with a two-day total of 153. After carding a 76 for a four-shot lead on Saturday, David had a rough start Sunday with 42 on the front nine.  One under on the back nine gave him a 77 and a five-shot victory over defending champion Tim Heath.

The Senior division was won by Mike Harding who shot 80 the second day after carding an 81 the first day. Otey Crisman III had the lead after the first day with a very fine 77 but faltered on the second day.

Max Hollon was the winner of the Statesman division with a two-round total of 162 followed by Ed Ronco with a 172.
