July 23-24 – Some of the Nebraska’s finest hickory golfers gathered near Mullen, Neb. for the Nebraska State Hickory Championship at the Dismal River Golf Club. The Open Division came down to some very recognizable names in the hickory world with David Brown and Randy Jensen taking first and second place respectively. The Open Reserve Division was won by Griff Evans, while John Mabry, from Montana won the Senior Division, and Dale Hallock won the Senior Reserve Division. Special awards were handed out and Hap Pocras won the Walter Hagen Award while Rudy Thomas took home the Senior Walter Hagen Award.
