Hickory Golf News

July 15
Des Moines, Iowa

Duane Baylor reports:

It was a great day for participants in the 41st Heart of America. It is the oldest continuously held hickory tournament in the world and was begun in 1978 by Warren Olsen, who was a past GCS president. The event is now hosted by Bill Reed on the Bright-Grandview Golf Course in Des Moines.

After practice rounds and great dinner and reception on Friday evening the tournament started on Saturday followed by a trade show and another fine dinner. The tournament concluded on Sunday followed by a pizza/salad buffet.
