Greetings from Columbia County, New York!
My club is the Columbia Golf and Country Club, once the home course of Gene Sarazen, shown above. In celebrating our 100th anniversary last year, we held our first ever hickory tournament, using the tees and layout of the original nine hole course of the 20s and 30s. Below is a picture of the players and their period attire. On the left front is Evan Silkworth, our head pro, and on the right front is Jeff Blomstedt, winner of numerous hickory tournaments in this country, who introduced me to the experience of hickory golf. I’ve also included a picture of Jeff and me on our front patio in Canaan, N.Y. the morning before the tournament.
