The second annual European Links Hickory Championship is scheduled for a beautiful links course in Hornum, Germany. The GC Budersand is on the island of Sylt on Germany’s North Sea coast. Westerly winds and that uncomprmising North Sea weather are true golf challenges. The golf course is on the site of a former military base. The current owner first saw the land, she immediately saw the potential for a resort and golf course. The military buildings were removed, a hotel built and the golf course itself opened in 2008. It is as beautiful a links as anywhere in Europe can boast and the perfect site for an European Links Hickory Championship.

The owner, Claudia Ebert, worked with local gardener Rolph Stephan-Hansen to build the course. Stephan-Hansen says this is the first and probably last course he will ever design. Could be our loss as this looks like such a great course and has some amazing reviews from the various golf travel websites.
