Jack Eichler reports on the 2026 Captain’s Cup, an annual event played by the SoCal Hickory Golfers.

Our most recent Captain’s Cup was played on Aug. 30 at the historic Victoria Country Club (founded 1903) in Riverside, Calif. The field of 12 players, endured 100 degree heat and a flu bug resulted in some last minute withdrawals. The field included three Victoria Club members who were new to hickory golf.  We played a two-person team format, with nine holes of four ball (best ball) and nine holes of Scotch foursomes (modified alternate shot). The father/son team of Jesse and Owen Lerman won the open division for the second consecutive year, and the team of Mark Willie and Chuck Felder won the senior division. Despite the heat it was a great day for hickory golf.
