Hickory Golf News

On Friday, April 8, at the Country Club of Jackson, the Mississippi Hickory Golf Association held its second annual Hickory Masters Tourney in conjunction with that little tournament over at Augusta National. Twenty-two members, including SoHG illuminaries Tad Moore and Breck Speck, competed in the combination 4-Ball and Individual event. The course played to just over 6,200 yards. Play was followed by a crawfish boil, live music and just a few “wee nips.”

Dr. Pat Scanlon took home individual gross honors with a fine 77, and Don Noblitt captured the individual net with a 78 (handicap 0!) Scanlon also teamed with Chas Bryan for the 4-ball net by a whopping 11 strokes. Noblitt helped Scott Hines to a runner-up finish. Scanlon’s handicap is under review by the committee before future play!
