9th annual Old Kinderhook Inter-State Hickory Tournament
Old Kinderhook Golf Course, Camdenton, Mo.
Nov. 3 – Nov. 5, 2016
Once again our hosts will be Fred and Sherry Smeltzer, who will open their home on Thursday evening for good food, fine liquor, and an appropriate start to the camaraderie which is an essential part of hickory golf’s attraction. As usual, we will have dinner on Friday, and prize giving dinner on Saturday, when serious contenders will receive “pots and prizes” and the rest of us will enjoy good company and the temptation of the trading tables. The main event is played on Friday/Saturday for the honour of your State, in men’s and ladies’ team competition. On Thursday, couples arriving early can enter the 9-hole mixed couples event. The Men play a 2-ball better ball format on Friday, and a Twosome format on Saturday. Both days will be scored on an English Stableford basis, to determine the winning Team and State. The Ladies will play a handicapped-by-hole scramble each day, again scored on an English Stableford basis. In serious vein, we are justly proud of adherence to the etiquette of the game; we will keep a proper pace of play, and pick up when not in danger of scoring at a particular hole! Dress of the period is always encouraged, but not mandatory, and we hope that Scott Pilgrim will return with his knickers and socks for sale, as well as to represent Texas.
