On Saturday, May 18 the 8th Open Danish Hickory Championship was contested at the Asserbo Golf Club – north west of Copenhagen.

Sweden’s Henrik Peyron (Helsingborg Golf Club) took the championship trophy with a very fine 78. Second was Dennis Willadsen (Ikast Tullamore Golf Club) of Denmark who was only two strokes off Henrik’s pace. The men’s net winner was Stefan Kjell (Helsingborg Golf Club) of Sweden followed by Claus Maeland (Kongsvinger Golf Club) of Norway.

The ladies net champion was Birgitte Lauber of Germany, followed by Gabriele David, also of Germany and both from the Schloss Langestein Golf Club.

Asserbo golf course is one of the few courses made during World War II. The first holes opened 1944. The course was later extended to nine holes in 1946 and finally to 18 in 1985.
