Hickory Golf News

The 22nd National Hickory Championship, organized by Golf Heritage Society executive director Pete Georgiady, was held at the Mound Golf Course in Miamisburg, Ohio, on June 6-8.  Seth Lomison, 21, of Pfafftown, NC, won for a second straight year. He first played in 2011 as a 13-year-old intern from the First Tee of the Triad.  His father, Matt, who has accompanied him to many junior tournaments, won the Reserve Division (net).  Gillian Alexander, a First Tee alumna from Pittsburgh, won her third women’s championship. Five current First Tee participants or graduates played this year. Welcoming junior participants is an initiative of the NHC; playing with 19th century equipment is a great way to teach golf history!
