As part of its 25-year celebration next year, the Golf Historical Society of Canada plans a four-day celebration in Quebec. It includes golf at two superb Willie Park Jr. designs – Mount Bruno in Montreal and Royal Quebec in Quebec City. 

   Royal Quebec (pictured at right), founded in 1873, is the second oldest golf club in North America. We will spend two days at each site with golf competitions and social gatherings. Montreal is one of the great cities in the world and Quebec City is rich with the early history of the French and English in North America.

   The first site of Quebec Golf Club was on the Plains of Abraham where Generals Wolfe and Montcalm died in the 1759 battle that ended French Sovereignty in North America.

   In the 1830’s a young Scottish seaman named William Tolman is said to have practiced his golf on the Plains of Abraham. He later became a Scottish amateur champion.
