On Sept. 13-14, golfers from around the Midwest and further visited the Hyperion Field Club in Johnston, Iowa for the Iowa Hickory Classic, hosted by the Hickory Golf Association.

   Hyperion is a private club established in 1900. Tom Bendelow was contracted in 1910 to design the present day course. The participants enjoyed a swap meet/trade show and a Friday night reception at Hyperion. The event included both a Ladies and a Scramble Division.

   In the Open Division, Roger Andrews continued his winning ways in 2013 with a victory thanks to a fine 76. John Berggren took the Senior title with 82. In the Statesman Division, the winner was J. Overton, with 95. The Ladies title went to J. Swenson with 96. And in the Scramble contest, the victors were Ausen, Collins, Luster, and Miller with a gross 71.
